Mira supports Increasing funding and emphasis on trades, skill-based programs such as FFA, ROTC, DECA, and school to work programs.
IMMIGRATION
Mira believes that Boundaries are important and enforcing the immigration policies and laws that we have in place is essential to maintain a safe and stable society.

Mira is opposed to illegal immigration since it feeds the drug and human trafficking channels and increases crimes in border states and compromises our citizens safety.
CRIME
Substance abuse is a major public health concern in the United States, with over 100,000 drug-related deaths each year*, accounting for the largest major category of external causes of death. In addition to the health consequences, there is a strong connection between drugs use and crime. Substance abusers are more likely to engage in criminal behavior such as drug trafficking as well as violent crimes, child abuse and neglect and property crimes.
Mira supports investing in substance abuse treatment facilities as studies show that substance abuse treatment facilities measurably reduce crime and improve public health outcomes in the communities where the treatment centers are located.
Mira is a proponent of Community Policing, as it is essential in effectively deterring crime and creating more vital neighborhoods. She is opposed to the bureaucratic burdens that federal government intervention place on local and state police departments and the reduction of force this causes by shifting staffing levels from serving the community to administrative duties in regards to forced federal mandates. She is a proponent of getting Law Enforcement the training and support that they need to be able to get back into the communities to develop relationships, identify and target problem areas, and effectively reduce crime.
ECONOMY
Mira supports a free-market economy driven by supply and demand. Mira opposes price control to deal with inflation as this historically has had long-term damage on economies. Rather inflation is almost always attributed to government spending. Reduction in government spending is the only method to improving inflation effectively.
Mira supports federal audits of local and state government spending of federal money.
HEALTHCARE
With almost 50,000** suicides nationwide each year*, the greatest healthcare reform that needs to happen in this country, is mental healthcare reform. Mira is a proponent of expanding treatment for depression, substance abuse, and improving accessibility, including School based programs. National suicide awareness and crisis intervention campaigns have been effective in other countries.
Other areas that Mira is dedicated to are working to improve healthcare and provider access to Rural Communities through initiatives such as the Rural Health Transformation Program and helping to improve options for veterans healthcare, such as working to expand Tricare so veterans can choose their own doctors. Mira opposes cuts to Social Security and Medicare benefits that seniors rely on for quality of life.
RURAL NEW MEXICO
Rural communities in New Mexico are often forgotten by politicians once the election is over. Mira is passionate about changing that and will work to improve federal spending and subsidies in Rural areas such as continued USDA Broadband Community Connect Grants and expanded USDA Rural Development. One way this could be accomplished is to have federal funds, other than for conservation, flow to the State’s park systems to enhance amenities and marketing. Enhancements to State Parks, which are almost always in rural areas, would in turn increase tourism and commercial traffic to the small cities and drive local economies.
FOREIGN POLICY
Mira supports a foreign policy that puts Americans first and promotes peace and stability through strength, which prioritizes our nation’s interests foremost, and works to ensures the safety of United States citizens.
GUN RIGHTS
Mira is a strong supporter of second amendment rights. She opposes any new laws that restrict those rights. She is a supporter of a national reciprocity act for concealed carry. Mira is a proponent of restoring gun ownership to certain persons – Nonfelonious dishonorably discharged Service Members, affected Veterans, Adjudicated Nonviolent Felons, and Medical Marijuana Users.
BIPARTISANSHIP
Mira is dedicated to being a bridge builder, working together as a team with Republicans and Democrats in Washington DC to make lives better in the State of New Mexico. Legislators who work together with both sides of the aisle are more effective.
Researchers with the Center for Effective Lawmaking analyzed more than 40 years of congressional data to determine whether legislators were effective and found that legislative effectiveness is greater when congressional members build bipartisan coalitions surrounding the bills that they sponsor.
“Lawmakers who recognize this, and do the hard work to form broader coalitions, have been finding much greater success. They offer a blueprint for constructive lawmaking that forms the bedrock of a healthy democracy,”
